On CNN Thursday, anchor Anderson Cooper tore into Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) for continuing to perpetuate Trump's "Big Lie" — even after multiple audits, including a partisan private recount of Maricopa County backed by Republicans, failed to find any evidence that the election was stolen or corrupt.
"If any reminder were needed that today's majority report is more about today and tomorrow than the past, here's some more gaslighting today from Republican Congressman Andy Biggs," said Cooper, playing a clip in which Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) grilled Biggs over the election results.
"Who won the election in Arizona? Donald Trump?" asked Raskin.
"We don't know," said Biggs. "Because as the audit demonstrates very clearly, Mr. Raskin, there are a lot of issues with this election that took place."
Cooper didn't mince his words in response.
"I mean, that's just complete bull," said Cooper. "It's amazing that that person is a sitting congressman. That person is just lying. It's become so normal, hasn't it? Just incredible to me. Congressman Biggs is one of several lawmakers being looked at by the House Select Committee for his role in the former president's rally, which preceded the attack on the Capitol. The Committee issued more subpoenas today. Meantime, four of his former top aides and allies are facing a midnight deadline to turn over documents to the committee. So no, none of this is history yet and sadly it is still current events."
