Andy Biggs wants to move Medicaid recipients to Obamacare — which he's trying to repeal

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), a candidate for governor in Arizona, suggested moving Medicaid recipients to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) — or Obamacare — after trying to repeal the law.

During an appearance on the War Room podcast, host Steve Bannon told Biggs that many of President Donald Trump's supporters were on Medicaid.

"I mean, in Arizona, I think there's a ton of MAGA that are kind of working class that the way they make it meet is they're using Medicaid to have babies and to meet medical," Bannon said. "Because Medicaid is not this is urban, you know, legend anymore. It's actually out there."

"We have a population of 7 million in Arizona. There's more than 2 million people that are on what's called Medicaid," Biggs acknowledged. "And that means for every man, woman, and child in Arizona, we allocate essentially $3,000."

"And the other thing is, there's, if folks were on the expansion population and they're capable of working, they're also capable of getting on the ACA's silver plan, the lowest plan," he continued. "And so they're not going to be without care. The question is, how are you going to fund that care?"

"Well, the state can't do it," Bannon insisted. "You're going to be governor. This is my point... Governor Biggs, what do you think?"

"How do you do it and make sure working-class people got a shot here?" the host asked.

Biggs, however, did not have a clear answer for funding health care for current Medicaid recipients.

"So you're going to have to basically do a DOGE on that in Arizona," he opined. "You're going to actually get reimbursements in those."

Earlier this year, Biggs sponsored his latest bill to abolish the Affordable Care Act.
