A woman was applauded for her Jew-bashing school board rant – and locals say they are not surprised

An anti-Semitic outburst last week at a Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meeting in Arizona made headlines, showing a woman identified as Melanie Rettler -- who claimed she was an expert in cloning -- lashing out against the "deep state," critical race theory, and COVID-19 vaccines, which she thinks "the Jews" are profiting from.
"It's being taken from your money and given to these pharmaceutical companies. And if you want to bring race into this, it's the Jews," Rettler said before leaving the podium.
Also notable about the woman's rant is the applause she received from attendees and the less-than-urgent rebuke she got from board President Barb Mozdzen.
"Your comments really need to be related to what the school board can do something about," Mozdzen said to Rettler.
A parent speaking to 12 News says she's not all that surprised about the outburst.
"This didn't come out of nowhere," said Laura Lawless. "There's been a sentiment bubbling for months and years tolerant of the message of racism and discrimination."
