Arbery defendants will be convicted -- and then face federal charges: MSNBC legal analyst
Appearing on MSNBC's "The Cross Connection" on Saturday morning, trial attorney Katie Phang predicted the defendants in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery will be found guilty and then will face federal charges.
After host Tiffany Cross ran footage of Travis McMichael unable to make the case for himself for self-defense, Phang told the host that the fate of the defendants is sealed after the testimony.
After viewing the clip, host Cross prompted, "I find it hard to believe that anyone could say that that is a reasonable excuse to kill a man."
"And they will be found guilty and then they will be prosecuted federally for what happened," Phang immediately replied. "And the reason why: he clearly didn't get the jury consultant that [Kyle] Rittenhouse did because he did a crappy job on cross-examination."
"How is it not possible that you don't understand that you cannot gun a man down who is unarmed in the street?" she continued. "And it is fundamentally flawed to think that the judicial system is blind. People need to see that justice is not blind and especially not color blind, and I'll predict a guilty verdict against all three defendants."
"But remember, it took three different sets of runs at prosecutors to get that case to go to trial," she added.
