The View mocks Republicans for igniting a conversation about Trump's most deadly mistakes

"The View" began April by mocking the Republican Party for opening the door to a conversation about Donald Trump's most deadly mistakes.

Republicans have been promoting a new campaign slogan asking whether people were better off now than they were four years ago, taking them back to the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down countries, tanked economies and killed tens of thousands.

"So, why is it that some people are having short memory issues?" asked co-host Whoopi Goldberg. "There are plenty of other reasons to feel good about where we actually are. Why isn't that tracking?"

Sara Haines noted that Joe Biden's administration has been lousy at promoting its successes, but its most recent video about 2020 captured her attention.

Republican Ana Navarro agreed, saying that Trump's team made a big mistake in bringing up such a conversation. She wished that there would be a "memory" option on social media, where instead of reminding people where they were a year ago, they could have an option for four years ago so people could see the photos and videos from 2020.

"That triggers me to see the press conference on injecting bleach," Alyssa Farrah Griffin said about her time as White House communications director. "Remind me to tell you the back story about how I tried to stop that in the West Wing. Republicans are committing malpractice here. Four years ago, we were literally hoarding toilet paper."

She noted that Trump is missing a huge opportunity by not promoting Operation Warp Speed, the U.S. government's effort to craft a vaccine for the deadly virus. The problem is that Trump is desperately trying to keep the votes of anti-vaccine people, so he can't promote the one success in a year of disasters, she said.

"Republicans talk fondly about the Trump era, they're talking pre-pandemic," said Griffin. "I had more money in my 401K, and the economy is objectively doing better than most macro measures, but there's a huge issue of grocery price that Americans feel."
