A Jan. 6 rioter has accused an indicted FBI agent of stealing his cash and silver bars, according to a new report.
Former FBI agent Nicholas Anthony Williams was indicted last month on charges that he stole $2,500 in cash and silver bars, Law&Crime revealed Tuesday.
An attorney for former Asians for Trump member Alexander Fan — was among those who entered the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack in 2021 — told Law&Crime that Williams' arrest was a direct result of Fan's allegations of the theft on July 13.
The indictment accuses Williams of having “embezzled and wrongfully converted to his own use the money and property of another which came into his possession and under his control in the execution” of his role as a federal agent."
In 2014, "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver did an extensive report on civil asset forfeiture, talking about the way in which cops have been allowed to take cash, cars, electronics and more from people arrested.
Speaking to New York Magazine about the episode, Oliver said, "this is so much worse than we thought."
Williams pleaded not guilty to all charges and is slated to appear in court on Feb. 26, according to the report. His attorney did not respond to Law&Crime's request for comment.Leave a Comment
