Author Naomi Wolf arrested outside Huffington Post awards ceremony

Feminist author Naomi Wolf was arrested last night outside the Huffington Post's "Game Changers" awards ceremony as she marched with about 150 members of "Occupy Wall Street" to protest New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's (D) resistance to raising taxes on the wealthy.

Cuomo, who was being honored by the AOL news group for supporting same sex marriage in New York, has recently been criticized for pushing back against a tax on millionaires, which is supported by a large majority of New York voters.

Wolf showed up last night to make sure members of the press understood how offensive the protesters find this. "I was completely complying with the law and the permit as it was described to me by police and I was arrested for standing lawfully on the sidewalk," she explained after being released.

Wolf, a frequent Huffington Post contributor, was heavily criticized earlier this year for a column saying the protection of rape victims' identities in the press should end. Though her screed was in reaction to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange being accused of sexual assault, she went on to suggest the prohibition against naming victims of sexual crimes was archaic and unneeded, triggering torrential rebukes from other feminists.

Still, on this particular issue of the millionaires tax, she's likely to have quite a few more allies than detractors. Not only do most New York voters support keeping the tax, a huge majority of Americans and even a majority of Republicans .
