It was a paper pounding.
Former Arizona Republican Chair Kelli Ward, who also served in the state senate, was reportedly witnessed bashing a woman with two pieces of paper and her closed fist.
According to a Phoenix Police Department Incident Report, Ward had been delivering a speech at around 1 p.m. on Jan. 27 inside of the Dream City Church.

After she was finished another woman in the crowd reportedly shouted at her "You are no longer a member!"
That allegedly set Ward off and she "leaned over and struck [the woman] with two papers and her fist on the right side of her head and shoulder," the papers say, describing the assault.
An off-duty cop was in the vicinity and received the claim firsthand from the paper walloped accuser.
The officer interviewed two eyewitnesses in the audience who say they saw the attack.
One of them was the victim's husband, and his account mirrored his wife's.
While he couldn't account for what his wife told Ward to trigger her suspected fury, he saw the former politician swing and connect with her punch and paper whack.
Another woman sitting behind the victim also saw Ward "hit" the woman with using paper as a weapon.
The officer wrote that "all parties have known Kelli [sic] ward over the past several years" based on their affiliation with the Republican Party and have also met together "numerous times" to support their accounts.
