AZ inmate files 5,813 federal lawsuits over bad prison food, seeks 10 trillion dollars

An Arizona  inmate, dissatisfied with the food served him in prison, has spent his time behind bars filing  thousands of federal lawsuits asking for $10 trillion in damages.

Dale Maisano, 62, serving a 15-year sentence for aggravated assault in a Florence AZ. prison, has filed 5,813 suits during his incarceration, with most of them filed in the past two years, reports The Tennesssean.

According to court records, Maisano's busiest day was on Jan. 24, 2014, when he filed 249 lawsuits.

Most of the lawsuits are prison food related with, Maisano, writing, "Stop the torture and give me food that will not make me ill."

The targets of Maisano's suits have included  governors, wardens, attorney generals, and Nashville-based Corizon Health -- which provides medical services at his place of  incarceration --  resulting in over 1,800 suits filed in Tennessee alone.

Maisano, who has asked that  his $10 trillion to be paid  in either dollars or gold, has no illusions that he will ever see a penny.

"I don't have any delusions I'm going to get that kind of money. I don't have any delusions I'm going to get any money," Maisano said in a phone interview. "A lot of them are just nuisance suits. We're trying to get our point across."

Arizona officials dispute Maisano's complaints about food and medical care, with department's spokesman Dog Nick noting, "The sheer volume of the lawsuits he has filed and the financial demands he makes speak for themselves."

Judges are not amused with Maisano's flood of nuisance suits  with one judge forbidding him from filing any additional lawsuits without the court's permission.

Maisano ignored the order and has set a personal record with  3,356 lawsuits filed so far this year.

Admitting that he not crazy  but " could use some mental health help," Masano feels he is being effective publicizing his plight,  telling a reporter, "If I would have filed five cases and let them go, would you be talking to me?"
