Barr was 'surprised' that Mueller didn't make final determination on obstruction: CNN

CNN's Laura Jarrett is reporting that special counsel Robert Mueller informed Attorney General Bob Barr three weeks ago that his final report would not make a determination on whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice.

According to Jarrett's sources, this came as a surprise to DOJ officials, who had expected that Mueller would make a judgement about whether Trump's actions in firing former FBI Director James Comey constituted obstruction of justice.

Barr has received criticism for determining that Trump did not obstruct justice during the Mueller investigation, as some critics had claimed that he made his determination based on having had just two days to examine Mueller's report.

Now, however, it seems as though Barr had three weeks to contemplate the obstruction of justice question, even though he only received the full Mueller report on Friday.
