Bill Kristol: 'What's worrisome' about GOP winning the Senate is that they actually have to govern

Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol on Sunday said that his top concern about Republicans taking control of both the House and the Senate was that they would actually have to govern, and that it could impact the outcome of the 2016 elections.

ABC News host George Stephanopolous observed that most polls showed that election night was going to be good for Republicans, but he wondered what was worrying Kristol the most prior to the polls closing.

"They do great, they control Congress, they're brilliant strategists, nothing ever goes wrong at all on election night," Kristol replied sarcastically. "I've been uncharacteristically optimistic about this one for about six weeks. I said I thought it could be a plus 10 [Republican gain] in the Senate in mid-September, and I actually think it could end up there."

"What's worrisome, of course, is after this they have to do two things," he added. "Do a good job controlling both houses of Congress, which isn't easy. And they need to win in 2016, which is a very different thing from winning in 2014."
