Bill O'Reilly: Jon Stewart was actually ripping Obama when he criticized 'awkward' GOP

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly argued on Thursday that his Daily Show counterpart Jon Stewart's commentary knocking the responses to the State of the Union address was actually expressing "liberal dissatisfaction" with President Barack Obama.

Seizing on Stewart's statement on Wednesday that Obama was "in the 'f*ck it' stage of his presidency," O'Reilly said it showed a "lack of liberal protection" for the president.

"In his first term, most of the media was very gentle toward the president,' O'Reilly argued. "But now that's changing."

In reality, Stewart spent the majority of the segment in question arguing that Obama was better off trying to enact policy measures like a minimum wage increase and comprehensive immigration reform on his own, rather than deal with a Congress that has only managed to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act and raise the debt ceiling since his address last year -- two of the 41 requests Obama made of lawmakers.

"Say what you will about this Congress, but they will, when pushed, reluctantly continue to make it illegal to commit violent acts against women," Stewart observed. "But of course, this is the Congress that wouldn't even ban crazy people from getting assault rifles after Newtown. I don't know what Obama thinks he'd accomplish talking to those idiots."

Stewart's segment also mocked the multiple Republican responses and the ensuing news analysis, saying, "The Republicans could always give their awkward response speech via Vine. It's such a more efficient way of introducing us to all these people who will never be President."

O'Reilly also seemingly glossed over Stewart remarking, "I'm intrigued. And increasingly willing to go against the Constitution and entertain the notion of a 2-branch government," regarding Obama's intentions.

In November 2013, Stewart employed a gospel choir to tell people making arguments similar to O'Reilly's to "go f*ck yourselves," explicitly saying, "Don't you use our jokes as evidence that the thing you hate must be stopped. I'm sure when we talk about sh*t you like, you're more than happy to ignore it."
