A GOP congressman unloaded on a fellow Republican House member who attacked their party for electing and protecting so-called "RINOs."
The spat on X stemmed from a Politico report that Dan Conston — an ally of ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy — plans to leave his role running the House Republicans’ top super PAC.
"It’s been an honor of a lifetime to lead [the Congressional Leadership Fund] and help House Republicans win and retain the majority," Conston said, according to the report. "We’ve accomplished everything we set out to do. It’s time to let others grow it to the next level."
Responding to reporter Ally Mutnick's post on X sharing the report, Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) lashed out at Conston.
"Here’s a thought: focus all energy and resources on defeating DEMOCRATS in the general election, instead of wasting putting a big thumb on the scale in primaries to elect or protect RINOs," he said.

Good has represented his district since 2021 after defeating never-Trump conservative Denver Riggleman in the GOP primary. But he lost his primary this year to state senator John McGuire, who was endorsed by Donald Trump, after Trump publicly broke with Good and accused him of "stabbing him in the back."
"John is running against Bob Good, who is actually bad for Virginia, and who will stab you in the back like he did me," Trump said in a June video.
Good's post caught the attention of fellow Republican Rep. Mike Lawler of New York, who hit back at Good on X on Monday night.
"Just a thought: They could focus all energy and resources on defeating Democrats in the general election if they didn’t have to waste money on safe Republican seats because of lousy candidates — like they had to do with you the first time around," he said. "And here’s an even better thought: don’t act like a jack--- in conference and undermine the Majority — and then lose your primary because your own constituents don’t like you…"
