'Sexual abuse, that's so much better': C-SPAN caller snaps as host denies Trump rape claim

A caller lobbed a sarcastic response at C-SPAN host Mimi Geerges after she corrected him by pointing out that President-elect Donald Trump was found liable for sexual abuse and not "rape."

During Monday's Washington Journal program, a Democratic caller from California named Joshua said he was concerned about Trump's nominations.

"I look at Trump, especially his cronies that's coming along with him, and they all seem to be accused of sexual assault in one form or another," he asserted. "Think like Robert Kennedy and Pete Hegseth, especially Trump himself, who was found civilly liable for rape, I believe, in the E. Jean Carroll case."

"For sexual abuse," Geerges interrupted.

"Oh, sexual abuse," the caller responded. "Yeah, that's what ABC got sued over, correct?"

"Correct," the host said.

"Sexual abuse, because that's so much better," the Democrat said sarcastically.

ABC News recently settled with Trump after host George Stephanopoulos repeatedly said Trump had been found liable for rape. Although the president-elect was legally found to have engaged in "sexual abuse" against Carroll, a judge determined that "Mr. Trump 'raped' her as many people commonly understand the word 'rape.'"

The C-SPAN caller went on to reflect on Trump's suggested desire over the weekend to take possession of Greenland, the Panama Canal, and possibly Canada.

"And at the same time, you see Donald Trump taking a more isolationist and populist stand in sorts of places that really do matter, especially in the war in Ukraine, constantly chastising Zelenskyy," the caller said.

"And what I'm really concerned about is we have a commander in chief who's an abuser, who's a fraudster, who's been divorced and remarried four times, found civilly liable for sexual abuse, and at the same time has a litany of failed businesses coming back after trying to do an insurrection, and now we're supposed to trust him with basically every facet of our government, which he wants to fill with his own political cronies by reinstating Schedule F and firing all the important people," he added.
