Far-right conservative Charlie Kirk has been spinning in a circle for 48 hours, and it has left MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace shaking her head.
Over the weekend, Kirk noted at his Turning Point USA conference that all of the new, young, male supporters among the MAGA followers are furious over the lack of transparency over Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested by President Donald Trump's government in 2019.
“Their trust of government is zero,” Kirk said. “The only reason they were able to succumb themselves to engaging was because of Trump.”
Monday, however, Kirk changed his tune, making a complete 180-degree turn.
"Plenty was said this last weekend at our event about Epstein. Honestly, I'm done talking about Epstein for the time being. I'm gonna trust my friends in the administration, I'm gonna trust my friends in the government to do what needs to be done, solve it, ball's in their hands," said Kirk.
"I've said plenty this last weekend. So if you guys wanna see my commentary on it, that's fine. We have escalatory action potentially being taken in Ukraine and Russia. We have tons of announcements happening when it comes to NATO."
However, 24 hours after that, on Tuesday, Kirk made another 180-degree turn, returning to his initial position over the weekend.
"So, what I want to make an addendum to what was said yesterday is we're going to keep on talking about it," said Kirk. "When I said for the time being, I was talking yesterday, I was telling the audience, guys, I got a whole deck of stories I got to cover here."
"I never said move on," claimed Kirk.
Wallace managed to silence a chuckle before mocking Kirk, "When I said I was moving on, I just meant, you know, for today, tomorrow's a new day. A clean slate, if you will. So there you have it. As ludicrous as ludicrous can be."
She noted that it was fairly "rare" in the Trump era for one of his supporters "not immediately throwing themselves at the altar of Donald Trump and giving him exactly what he wants."
Republicans in the House refused to support a measure that would force the Justice Department to release the files.
Commentator John Heilemann wasn't as polite.
"What you saw with Kirk, with what you played the Charlie Kirk just now, we saw a kind of mini-me version of what Trump's going through," he said, noting that Kirk is "a captive of his own base."
