Charlottesville victims turn to crowdfunding medical bills after getting mowed down by white supremacist

Victims of Charlottesville terrorist attacks are turning to Internet fundraising to pay for expenses resulting from their injuries.

Multiple people have turned to the fundraising site, GoFundMe, with stories of the harm they or their loved-ones suffered. As the stories are shared through social media, the fundraising totals continue to grow.

"Tyler Magill, vanquisher of Charlottesville nazis, suffered a stroke on August 15," reads one page, which has raised over $125,000 of it's $135,000 goal. "This stroke was the result of blunt force trauma to his carotid artery after he was hit with a torch on Friday night."

Heather Heyer was killed in the attack and dozens were injured over the course of the violent weekend.

"Allie, with no hesitation, ran to the car to try to start pulling injured people out of the road. She assumed this was a terrible accident, but as she reached the trunk of the car the driver immediately switched to reverse and hit her and a number of other people," reads another page that has raised over $30,000 of a $50,000 goal. "She was taken to UVA hospital for treatment, and was rushed into surgery for a shattered pelvis and severe internal bleeding. Her less severe injuries include a broken orbital socket, and fractured vertebrae. According to her doctors she had the most severe injuries of the surviving victims of the attack."

The UVA Medical Center treated 20 victims with injuries from the car attack.

"You've seen this photo -- but this is my wife," reads a new page that has raised over $1,000 of a $10,000 goal. "We are working people who need some help to get through this difficult recovery. Both Lisa's legs were broken and one hand was badly broken as well. She's had surgeries and will undergo weeks of in-patient rehabilitation, and months of recovery and healing. The Commonwealth of Virginia will help us meet her medical bills, but there are other costs we are already incurring to support her, and to be together during her recovery."

One effort has already exceeded the fundraising goal.

"At a counter-protest for the Charlottesville White Supremacy rally, a 20 year old (my daughter, a Houston native) was one of the people who got hit by a car. She's in the hospital and we really will appreciate any help for the recovery expenses," reads a page that has raised over $150,000 of a $120,000 goal. "Natalie does not have health insurance at this time and has sustained skull fractures among other injuries from the attack."
