Chicago woman hurls racist rant at black couple -- and her black friends let her

Chicago police are investigating a local woman's racist tirade against a black couple after it was caught on video, Mic reported.

The video was posted by Ernest Crim, and documents the encounter he and his wife Cassie had with the woman during a local festival on Saturday.

The footage begins with the woman slapping the phone out of Crim's hand. Seconds later, she is seen waving her arms in the air and repeatedly yelling an anti-black slur.

According to Crim, the couple encountered the woman and her friends -- who are also black -- during a dispute concerning bean bags they were using for a festival game. He identified the woman online, but the name he gave has not been confirmed.

"If I hit her, what happens to me?" he can be heard asking in the video.

"You're a guy," she says, before using the slur again.

"You're gonna let this happen," Crim tells her friends. "What type of people are y'all?"

"It don't bother one," one of the woman's friends replies. The woman walks away from the group, but when Crim asks for her name, she turns around and spits, hitting his wife.

"I was humiliated after that," Cassie Crim said. "We had a lot to think about. We're educators. We're black. We had too much going for ourselves to stoop to that level."

The video has been seen more than 36,000 times since being posted.

"I feel like the history and the climate of this country had already nurtured the [anti-black] mentality that she had," Crim told Mic regarding the couple's decision to put the footage online. "In this day and age, I just wanted to get her on camera so I can expose how ignorant she is and was."

According to Chicagoist, police confirmed that a woman was removed from the event following an incident matching Crim's description of events.
