Chris Cuomo exposes Trump surrogate's pay-to-play hypocrisy: Let's talk about Pam Bondi

CNN host Chris Cuomo called out senior Trump campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn on Monday for accusing Hillary Clinton of pay-to-play politics while ignoring Donald Trump's alleged payoff to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and then-Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.

During a discussion about new CNN polling which shows Trump pulling ahead, Epshteyn compared Clinton to a "mobster" because of her email scandal.

"Where is the high ground for Donald Trump?" Cuomo wondered. "The list of controversies under his name is like five times as long as Hillary Clinton."

"Absolutely not," Epshteyn insisted.

"Oh, please," Cuomo scoffed. "All the different lawsuits."

"The difference is it's something he said versus Clinton [illegalities]," Epshteyn opined.

"No," the CNN host countered. "Trump University isn't something he said. Pam Bondi situation isn't something that he said. What happened with the Texas AG and governor isn't something that he said."

"Her record is renting out the Lincoln bedroom, her record is White Water, he record is the Clinton foundation taking money from sovereign governments when they said it wouldn't," Epshteyn charged. "And then her record is not knowing that 'C' stood for classified as confidential."

"It is interesting for the Trump campaign to go after the Clinton Foundation," Cuomo noted, "when you have this surface about the IRS banging your charity for an illegal donation. If she did that, Boris, you'd be running around with the Constitution over your head, saying, 'She broke the law! She broke the law!'"

In 2013, the Trump donated $25,000 to support Bondi's reelection just days after she agreed to drop a case against Trump University. The IRS later determined that Trump had illegally used his charity to donate to the pro-Bondi group.

The Associated Press reported that Trump also donated $35,000 to then-Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott after he quietly dropped a fraud case against Trump University.
