Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer found himself under the microscope late Tuesday when a CNN anchor pressed him on whether he ought to retain his leadership role in his chamber.
Anchor Brianna Keilar ended her 10-minute interview with Schumer by showing the New York Democrat a clip of fellow Democratic Sen. Cory Booker (NJ) telling a podcast host he shouldn't be the new minority leader.
"No, definitely not," Booker said Monday on "Behind the Table." "I don't want that job."

When the host asked him why not, Booker replied that Schumer has a "record of success" and has the caucus's support.
"He has a firm hold on the 47 of us," said Booker. "But that doesn't take away from my role to be a leader in the Senate but more importantly, is to offer leadership in our country and in our community."
Before Keilar could pose Schumer a question, the longtime Democrat jumped in as soon as the clip ended.
"And he's done a great job. I love Cory. I helped him when he was preparing for his speech. You know, we have so much talent in our Democratic caucus," he began.
But Keilar interrupted.
"I want to ask you a question, Senator," she began. "I saw you nodding. I know you're happy with what he said. He's clearly Team Chuck here. But there are a lot of Democratic voters who are not pleased with you. You're aware of this. They've been very vocal since you supported funding the government."
As Schumer tried to interject, Keilar pressed on.
"I do want to ask you though, as you speak to them, why do you say that you are the man for them moment when they seem to have an impression that they would like someone else who they think has more fire in the belly from how they see things," she said, talking over Schumer multiple times to finish her question.
But Schumer insisted he has the "full support" of his caucus and pointed to anti-Trump demonstrations this week as further evidence.
"Democrats are united. We know who our problem is. Our problem is Donald Trump. We are moving forward. We are totally united. I have the full support of my caucus. We all are working together, the House and Senate. [House Minority Leader] Hakeem Jeffries and I met again today with our leadership to discuss how to move forward. And we are looking forward because we know the danger of Trump."
Schumer said he's confident they'll show people — as they've already done — "how bad" Trump is.
"I'm feeling very good about the future in terms of how Democrats are united and having some real success," he insisted.
