Judge Chutkan, the jurist overseeing Donald Trump's criminal prosecution in the Washington D.C. case over alleged election subversion, reportedly affirmed that the riot that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021, can't "happen again."
Trump was indicted after Special Counsel Jack Smith accused the former president of knowingly undermining the 2020 election, which was won by President Joe Biden, in a failed attempt to cling to the White House. The case was assigned to Chutkan, who was appointed by President Obama, and she has frequently been a target of Trump's attacks on social media since then.

Earlier in the case, Trump attempted to have Chutkan recused based partly on comments the judge made in other Jan. 6 cases. But that attempted failed.
Now, Chutkan has again spoken about Jan. 6.
"You're preaching to the choir on that one," Chutkan said when a prosecutor in a separate Jan. 6 case said that the insurrection attempt simply "can't happen again."
That's according to a report from CBS News Congressional Correspondent Scott MacFarlane.
"It was sentencing day for Michael Foy," MacFarlane says in his video report. Foy stands accused of using a hockey stick to beat the officers.
Arguing for an eight-year prison term, he noted, prosecutors said there was an "explosion of violence." The prosecutor then looked directly at Chutkan, and said Jan. 6 can't happen again.
"You're preaching to the choir on that one," Chutkan purportedly replied.
"She said it twice," he said, adding that the judge ultimately sentenced Foy to around 40 months in prison. That aside, he added, "That type of dialogue is heard these 1200 plus Jan. 6 cases."
That, he said, raises one specific question:
"Will Trump stand trial for a January 6 case, too?"
