CNN analyst shuts down Rick Santorum: 'You don't play with gang rape'

On CNN's the Lead with Jake Tapper Friday, panelists discussed Senate Republicans' decision to allow a week-long FBI investigation of allegations that Brett Kavanaugh committed sexual assault. President Donald Trump said Friday he'd allow the probe.

Nina Turner of Bernie Sanders' Our Revolution insisted that the claims should be investigated, even if they seem outlandish, such as the allegation that he organized gang rapes at parties.

"The gang rape thing, you don't play around with that," Turner said. "That has happened to women."

Rick Santorum tried to argue with her, saying, "I'm not playing with the gang rape thing. Other people are," suggesting that it's Kavanaugh opponents who are taking gang rape lightly in order to smear him.

She promptly shut him down. "You don't play around with date rape," she stated, pointing that neither side should casually throw around references to gang rape. "That's happened to women."
