Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is facing multiple lawsuits from families of Sandy Hook victims after he spent years claiming that the murders of 20 first graders and six educators were a false flag operation. In that time, Jones has had multiple prominent guests on his show, including Lou Dobbs and in 2015 then-Presidential candidate Donald Trump, who appeared on his show in 2015 and told him "Your reputation is amazing."
On CNN Monday, The Lead host Jake Tapper chronicled Jones' history of destructive lies, which helped build him a fringe but powerful media empire.
On a deposition video released Monday, Jones blamed "psychosis" for his action. In the past, as Tapper notes, he's also blamed Hillary Clinton.
"After years of peddling the vicious and evil lie that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax, Alex Jones is now struggling to defend himself from lawsuits," Tapper said. "In a newly released deposition, for one of those defamation suits, from some of the families of the victims, we're seeing for the first time the Infowars host on tape and under oath struggling to demonstrate any remorse to the loved ones of those who were killed and even offering more by way of deluded conspiracy theories."
