CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin on Monday shut down conservative Anita McBride after she complained about the treatment that Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh received during his confirmation hearing.
After McBride explained how conservatives were outraged by what happened to Kavanaugh over the past month, Toobin laid out how Republicans blew past very serious charges leveled against their Supreme Court nominee and rammed through his confirmation anyway.
"Three women came forward and said under oath, in various ways, that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted them and they were told, 'We don't believe you,'" Kavanaugh said. "We don't believe you, we are confirming him anyway. That's the legacy of the hearing."
McBride countered that many conservatives were angry that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's account of alleged sexual assault was made public against her will, which then made her feel compelled to testify about it before the Senate at great risk to her reputation.
Toobin, however, still wasn't having any of it.
"This idea that the process mattered, let's be clear, these women were disbelieved and kicked to the curb," he said. "And Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed."
