Colbert smacks down Trump's claim lots of women love him: 'Honey, if you have to cut a check after a date that's not love'

"Late Show" host Stephen Colbert had some romance advice for President Donald Trump during Thursday night's show: It's not love when you have to pay them.

During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, the president dismissed accusations that he approved illegal payoffs to ex-lovers. Trump took a moment to compliment himself for having impressive supporters, telling Ingraham, "I think I have the greatest base in the history of politics. I have people that I love and that love me, and that includes a lot of women."

"Oh, honey," Colbert said, "if the date ends with you cutting a check, that's not love."

Friend and CEO of AMI (parent company of the National Enquirer) David Pecker confessed to investigators that he had a meeting with Trump and former "fixer" Michael Cohen to discuss the payoffs to former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal. The testimony from Pecker corroborated the tape released by Cohen where Trump approved the payoff.

Trump told Ingraham that not only was the accusation false, he didn't think that there was even a payoff from him to the Enquirer.

Doing his Trump impression, Colbert said, "I'm not sure, got to check. I always forget which publications I paid to silence my porn stars and which publications my porn stars spanked me with."

The interview also contained an awkward moment where the president accused former Cohen of scoring a "deal" if he agreed to implicate the president in "fake" crimes that were there only to embarrass him.

"Well, if they're giving out deals to people who embarrass the president, you might have a chance!" Colbert shot back.
