Friday night former FBI Director launched a broadside at the current FBI leadership for yielding to political pressure by reassigning the FBI’s top lawyer.
At issue was an announcement that former head of the FBI’s Office of General Counsel, James Baker, is being reassigned by the current FBI director Christopher Wray. The recently appointed FBI director is currently being pressured by GOP lawmakers as they attack the credibility of the department investigating President Donald Trump's administration.
On Twitter, the ex-FBI director wrote: "Sadly, we are now at a point in our political life when anyone can be attacked for partisan gain. James Baker, who is stepping down as FBI General Counsel, served our country incredibly well for 25 years & deserves better. He is what we should all want our public servants to be."
Baker worked closely with Comey during his tenure at the department.
