Conservative columnist explains why Ted Cruz is the most hated man in Washington

A conservative Washington Post columnist jokingly explained to her MSNBC co-panelists Friday that Sen. Ted Cruz's demeanor may point to why he's likely to lose against Beto O'Rourke.

Columnist Jennifer Rubin noted that there's a "technical" aspect to O'Rourke appeal.

"He is completely fluid," Rubin said. "He talks from the diaphragm up. There are so many politicians who either screech, they turn up way too high because they're faking emotion or they're way too reticent and brittle."

"Where's Ted Cruz talking from?" host Nicolle Wallace asked. "Is it his nose?"

The columnist and laughed rolled her eyes before responding.

"Good golly," Rubin said, "and then there are people who are just unlikable, that's the Ted Cruz problem."

She went on to add that voters need to "like the candidate" in order to elect them — and that "Donald Trump is the exception to the rule."
