Conservative magazine admits Republicans can't 'win by losing' and would be 'demoralized' if Dems take the House

The conservative American Spectator magazine took aim at fellow Republicans who justify a potential blue wave by claiming the GOP can "win by losing the House."

Spectator blogger Melissa Mackenzie wrote that the "Republicans win by losing the House" take is "inane" in the Election Day post.

"The argument is rooted in pure, unrequited spite," Mackenzie wrote, citing the "Never-Trump" Republicans who want to see the president fail.

She then admitted that "all that is achieved when Republicans lose is more losing."

"If the Democrats win, Republicans will be stuck triangulated," the post read. "The Democrats will investigate Trump [and] tie the administration in a thousand knots."

Losing the House would mean "losing" in general, "reversing momentum" and demoralizing Republicans, Mackenzie wrote.

"Should the GOP get trounced," the blogger concluded, "it will reflect on [Donald Trump]."
