Cornel West is leaving the Green Party to run for president as an independent. “I’m running as an Independent candidate for President of the United States to end the iron grip of the ruling class and ensure true democracy!” the 70-year-old Union Theological Seminary professor declared on social media Thursday, after announcing his candidacy in early June.
