Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) scolded Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for holding a hearing on government "weaponization" by arguing that former President Donald Trump was the "ultimate" violator.
Speaking Wednesday to the House Judiciary Committee, Goldman accused Jordan of holding "another hearing about the same topic."
"This is the weaponization of the federal government subcommittee," he explained. "Whistleblower retaliation is peanuts compared to a future president using the power of his office to imprison his political adversaries simply because they oppose him. That is the ultimate weaponization of the federal government."
Goldman pointed to examples of how Trump had weaponized government during his first presidency, including firing then-FBI Director James Comey and threats against former attorney Michael Cohen.

"It is a gross abuse of power of the Department of Justice," the Democratic lawmaker insisted. "But this is who now has complete immunity to do this as much as he wants without the guardrails of Don McGahn or John Kelly to stop him from doing it."
"This is going to be the danger of the weaponization of the federal government."
