DHS secretary to face Durbin under oath on 'sh*thole' meeting: 'That's not a particular phrase that I heard'

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said on Tuesday that she will testify under oath that she never heard President Donald Trump use the word "sh*thole" to describe African nations.

During an interview with CBS News on Tuesday, Nielsen told host John Dickerson that she was in the meeting with Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), who claims that Trump made the "sh*thole" remark and said that he would rather take immigrants from Norway.

According to Nielsen, Trump's remarks had nothing to do with the fact that most Norwegians are white.

"He was just using that as a place that accepts immigrants in part based on merit," she insisted.

Dickerson noted that Nielsen will have to face Durbin under oath on Tuesday when she testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"I have no problem repeating what I've said," Nielsen shrugged. "That's not a word that I remember being used. It was very impassioned, people on all sides felt very strongly about this issue. There were a lot of conversations happening at the same time."
