Trump seeking to block documents 'potentially numbering in the millions' from the House riot commission: report

According to a report from Politico, former president Donald Trump is not only instructing former aides to not comply with subpoenas from the select House committee investigating the Jan 6th insurrection but also attempting to make a blanket request to block what could be millions of documents from reaching their hands.

On Friday, President Joe Biden's White House refused to extend the executive privilege to close aides of the former president who are being scrutinized by congressional investiagtors.

That, in turn, led Trump to rage at the current administration, issuing a statement saying, "Biden has rejected our request to withhold White House information from the House Unselect Committee investigating the January 6th protest, but has not taken a stance on the insurrection that took place on November 3rd, often referred to as the Crime of the Century."

According to Politico, Trump now is on a deadline to make his case to force the National Archives to keep documents from his four years in office away from the committee.

"Trump has 30 days to challenge the decision in court, after which time, the National Archives will release the documents to the Jan. 6 panel," the report states. "The former president is already asserting privilege over 45 specific documents requested from the committee, and indicated in a letter that he wants to bar the release of additional documents 'potentially numbering in the millions.'"
