President Donald Trump has been absent from public appearances for a week following a hospital visit on May 27, holding only closed-door meetings, while the White House has not commented on future public events.
The extended absence sparked online speculation about his health, with CBS senior correspondent Ed O'Keefe noting Trump has not held a public event beyond weekend golf glimpses and a taped interview.
MeidasTouch speculated, "something is going on with Trump's health that they are not telling us," referencing journalist Aaron Rupar's observation of a possible swollen area under Trump's right eye.
Political commentators highlighted media double standards, with strategist Mike Nellis writing on X, "The media is once again spending countless hours talking about former President Joe Biden's health while largely ignoring Trump's obvious physical and mental decline."
Commentator Jamesetta Williams questioned why journalists who extensively covered Biden's fitness in 2024 now show no interest in Trump's health, while podcast host David Pakman noted Trump's third physical in 13 months with a report buried at 11 p.m. Friday.
