'Donald Trump is no liar': Watch actor Jon Voight's bonkers explanation for voting Trump

Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight left some Fox News viewers scratching their heads on Monday when he attempted to explain why he supported Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Hours before Monday night's presidential debate at Hofstra University, Fox News host Neil Cavuto asked Voight what he was looking for in a candidate.

"I'm looking at you!" a startled Voight replied. "Hello, Neil. It's good to see you after all this time."

In defense of Trump, the Deliverance actor accused major newspapers like The New York Times and The Washington Post of joining "the liars of the world" because they had recently called out the unprecedented rate at which the Republican candidate lied.

"He's an extraordinary fellow," Voight opined. "He goes from place to place across the country, and at the end of maybe a 12-hour day, 14-hour day, he's as clear and as strong as when he started in the morning at 7:30 or whatever it is."

Voight said that he was also impressed with how Trump gave "a pat on the back to the guy ran his teleprompter" after speeches.

"Donald Trump has no blood on his hands as does [Hillary Clinton]," Voight continued. "Remember Benghazi, remember Benghazi. And I can tell you this, one thing you can be sure of is Donald Trump is no liar."

Fox News host Neil Cavuto softly pushed back: "The Hillary Clinton people may disagree."

"I'm on the spot right now with you, Neil," Voight observed, comparing it to the presidential debate. "You are throwing things back in my face and saying, 'What about this? What about this?' But I know Donald Trump and I know the things that he's said and I find them to be true."

"I find that sometimes in an unusual, sometimes awkward way, he says exactly what needs to be said and he tells the truth."

(In fact, Politico recently found that Trump "averaged about one falsehood every three minutes and 15 seconds.")

Voight pointed to Trump's claim that President Barack Obama "founded ISIS" as one example of his truth telling.

The conservative actor concluded by predicting that Hillary Clinton would struggle at Monday night's debate.

"It's going to be very difficult for her," he insisted. "What she has done in the past is attack Donald Trump, just called him names and tried to get the attention deflected from herself. But it's going to be a little tough for her."
