WASHINGTON — White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed this week that Donald Trump told her the drones spotted in New Jersey in November and December were nothing concerning.
Sen. Andy Kim (D-N.J.), who serves on the Senate Homeland Security Committee, told Raw Story this week that he couldn't figure out what Trump was talking about.
"After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of these drones were also hobbyists, recreational and private individuals that enjoy flying drones," Leavitt said at the press conference.

"In time, it got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy," she claimed.
Kim said he has no idea what the White House is talking about. “I’ve been meaning to reach on out to FAA, you know, like, what ‘research’ are they talking about? Like, cause they said, like, ‘it was approved by FAA for research and other things,’” Sen. Andy Kim told Raw Story.
“Like, it made it sound like there was, like, some research project that they're — like, as far as I know, none of that exists,” Kim said.
“I have no idea what that means,” Andy Kim confessed.
In December, Trump claimed that the government was hiding the truth about the drones.
"We assess that the sightings to date include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones and law enforcement drones, as well as manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and even stars that were mistakenly reported as drones," said former National Security Council spokesman John Kirby at the end of 2024.
