A Republican activist and attorney is getting a new gig after his nomination to the Justice Department flopped this week.
Ed Martin was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the permanent U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. He had served in the role on an acting basis since Trump’s second inauguration. But the controversial nomination quickly took on water and was ultimately withdrawn, facing bipartisan opposition in the Senate.
Trump withdrew his nomination Thursday and instead gave the interim job it to Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a former prosecutor.

After Pirro's announcement, Trump announced on his Truth Social platform Martin would take on a new role at the DOJ.
"Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney. In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!"
The announcement comes hours after a passerby spit on Martin in a fit of rage as he gave a live TV interview on Newsmax.
