X owner Elon Musk recently demanded that all federal employees send him an email outlining five things that they accomplished in the last week -- and he warned them that failure to do so would result in their termination.
However, at least one major department is instructing its workers to not comply with Musk's demand.
Department of Defense official Darin Selnick on Sunday sent out a message to personnel emphasizing that the DoD, not Musk, "is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures."

The message also instructed workers to "please pause any response to the [Office of Personnel and Management] email titled 'What did you do last week.'"
The message from the DoD is just the latest sign of tension between Musk and officials appointed by Trump to run the government, as one source told the Washington Post last week that "every cabinet official is sick of him."
