Proud Boys leader complains to judge about jail conditions: 'There are feces in my room right now'

Jailed Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio on Monday gave a graphic description of problems in the Washington, D.C. jail where he's being held.

During a court appearance in which Tarrio asked to be released to home confinement for the remainder of his sentence, Tarrio's attorney complained to the court that conditions in the jail were intolerable for his client.

As reported by NBC 4 Washington's Scott MacFarlane, the attorney told the judge that conditions in the jail have grown worse ever since Tarrio was sentenced earlier this year.

The judge was skeptical, however, and said that there had been many complaints about conditions in the jail for many years.

"Lots of people get sentences to the DC jail," he said, according to MacFarlane. "Lots of people get held there pretrial."

It was at this point that Tarrio himself spoke up and said, "There are feces in my room right now."

The Proud Boys leader also reportedly complained about the temperature of the food he's been served.

Tarrio was sentenced to jail earlier this year after he admitted in court that he tore down and burned a Black Lives Matter flag that was on display at the Asbury United Methodist Church in D.C. in the days leading up to the January 6th Capitol riots.

Tarrio is currently scheduled to be released next year in late January.
