New York City Mayor Eric Adams appeared on "The Fox & Friends" Friday morning with the so-called "border czar," Tom Homan, and left people scratching their heads.
A little over 17 hours previously, former acting Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle Sassoon resigned with an explosive letter accusing top Justice Department officials of a quid pro quo to drop Adams' corruption charges if he cooperates with the administration's mass deportations plan.
On Fox, the two men tried to turn it into a joke, with Homan promising: “If he doesn’t come through … I’ll be in his office, up his butt, saying, Where the hell is the agreement we came to?"

Politico reporter Emily Ngo posted the video on X, calling it a "Thinly veiled Homan warning to Adams."
Journalist John Harwood argued it wasn't all that veiled.
The charges against Adams were dropped with the option to bring them again.
The Huffington Post's Arthur Delaney said it was "Nice of Trump's border czar to confirm on TV the quid-pro-quo that Trump's DOJ said this week did not exist."
Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance called it, "Confirmation that the DOJ lawyers who resigned yesterday had correctly assessed the situation."
Washington lawyer Susan Simpson highlighted the Homan comment, 'the agreement we came to' in the interview."
"We're not even a month in yet, and the Trump Administration is openly prosecuting people based on whether or not they grant political favors to the president," she said on X.
Political YouTube show host David Doel commented, "Openly admitting to an already well-reported on quid pro quo on national television. Democrats need to understand there are no more rules, so if there's any hope in defeating this they need to stop doing things by the book."
Columbia University lecturer Tom Watson said it's time to "Remove Adams, convene a grand jury on this 'deal.'"
Journalist and filmmaker Russ Finkelstein suggested that some of Eric Adams' campaign opponents turn the video into a campaign ad.
"I’d say we’ve become a national joke with how embarrassing this is but unfortunately none of this is funny. The greatest city in the world is being humiliated daily because Adams is compromised," complained New York state Sen. Zellnor Y. Myrie.
"This is insane. They're just out in the open saying this was a quid pro quo where the Mayor of New York has to do everything Trump says on immigration or he is going to jail," posted journalist Séamus Malekafzali.
U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) remarked, "Open corruption used to only be found on Russian TV!"
