A former high-ranking official in President Barack Obama's West Wing mocked the preponderance of lawyering-up by the staffers closest to President Donald Trump.
Chris Lu served Obama's entire first term as White House Cabinet Secretary – the primary liaison between the President and cabinet-level departments and agencies. Before that, he served as Legislative Director in the office of then-Senator Barack Obama. After working in the West Wing, Lu was unanimously confirmed by the US Senate as Deputy Secretary of Labor.
"I served 4 years in the Obama White House," Lu tweeted. "I never hired a lawyer, and I don't know anyone who did."
"Just thought I'd point that out," added the former Deputy Chief Counsel of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Lu served Obama from his first year in the United State Senate until the day Donald Trump was sworn in, including serving as the Executive Director of the Obama-Biden Transition Project.
Lu is currently a Senior Fellow at the U.Va. Miller Center.
