Facebook down for less than 1 hour and Twitter explodes with dismay, existential dread, wit

Facebook, the social networking site that boasts 829 million daily active users, crashed to the Earth today, interrupting the flow of breaking world news and keeping proud grandparents from sharing pictures of their grandchildren.

Seeking an outlet to express to the world their dismay -- which would normally be expressed on Facebook -- users turned to Twitter where they were forced to condense their feelings down to 140 characters under the hashtag #facebookdown.
