A woman up in arms over Campbell's Soup's new commercial for their Star Wars-inspired soups featuring a child with gay parents ended up getting massively out-trolled, according to LGBT blog Queerty.
In the ad, one of the dads uses the Darth Vader catch phrase "I am your father," to convince a finicky little boy to eat. His partner then says, "No, I am your father!" But Facebook user Jess Hicks read far more into the otherwise mundane ad showing parents feeding their child soup.
"I'm so sick of this Homosexual agenda, You sell soup, not butt sex! Please take your ad down or you will not have a company anymore!"
But another Facebook user created a page called Campbell's ForHelp, which is not associated with the company but which nonetheless may have been saying what many of its employees were thinking.
"It seems you have somehow mistook two men feeding their child soup as a pornographic film depicting anal stimulation? My word, Jessica. That is quite a leap," Campbell's ForHelp replied, then offering to send her some "soup-er" classic tomato soup.
But Hicks wasn't finished, and neither was the troll.
"It might as well, the poor kid must have a terrible life," she responded. "Imagine going to school and having to telling everyone you have two dads."
The Campbell's ForHelp troll then responded they'd be more embarrassed going to school "with anyone knowing I am in some way associated with you."
Hicks then said her child is "looks after by his MOTHER & FATHER - The only way it should be!"
But the troll had the last word with this closing shot.
"Jess, please send our condolences to your child."
The Campbell's ad campaign features real families, not professional actors, in natural settings, according to Advertising Age. Company representatives told the publication it was their goal to feature a diversity of family types.
In August, a prankster pulled a similar stunt and sent bigots into a fury when he posed as Target. Mike Melgaard created a Facebook page with the Target logo called Ask ForHelp, where he trolled conservatives who were angry the big box retailer had stopped separating children's toys by gender.
A sampling of that hilarious exchange has Judy Alley Carter ranting that, "If you change everything into gender neutral you have a lost a customer. I read you also condoning Shiria law in Michigan. Shame on you, this is America."
"Judy, we at Target would just like to say one thing," Melgaard responded. "Allahu Akbar."
