Florida vandals 'crucify' dead cat and write 'den of thieves' outside food pantry church
Police in Florida were investigating this week after members of a church found a dead cat "crucified" on their campus.
According to WOFL, an employee at Real Life Church in Clermont was the first to notice the cat attached to a small cross on the west side of the building.
Investigators also said that the words, "Thou shalt not make my father's house a den of thieves, read Matthew 7:3 ye hypocrites," were written on the cross.
"We are truly saddened by this inhumane act against one of God's creatures," the pastor said in a statement. "While we have no idea what would prompt someone to do something like this, we are praying for them and for those affected by it."
Carmel Privacco said that he did not understand why someone would target his church because it had a focus on community outreach.
"It's a little bit disturbing why somebody would do that. I don't understand," he told WOFL. "They have a special program where people that are under privileged, like a food pantry, assistance for work, they have youth groups, I go to the church."
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the Clermont Police Department.
