Former ER star Noah Wyle explains 'unsexy' Medicaid activism

Former ER star Noah Wyle explained Tuesday why he decided to bring attention to "a very unsexy kind of issue" by getting arrested to protest Medicaid cuts.

Wyle and more than 100 other people were arrested during a protest at the Capitol Hill in late April.

"It was a good fight to fight," he said on Current TV's The Young Turks.

Wyle noted the group that planned the protest, ADAPT (Americans with Disabilities for Attendant Programs), had received very little attention. The group said cuts to Medicaid would negatively affect the elderly and people with disabilities, forcing more people into nursing homes.

"This isn’t really a medical issue. This is a civil rights issue. The fight that they are fighting isn't just for people with disabilities. It’s for everybody who is planning on getting old."
