'Fox & Friends' hosts think Obama's scandal damage control is a plot to 'confuse' them

The hosts of Fox & Friends complained on Thursday that President Barack Obama had taken actions in response to so-called scandals involving terrorist attacks in Benghazi and the Internal Revenue Service targeting tea party groups in an effort to "confuse the American people" -- or at the very least, Fox News morning show hosts.

The White House announced on Wednesday that it had released 100 pages of notes and emails that dealt with Benghazi and had accepted the resignation of acting IRS Director Steven Miller. Both actions had been suggested in recent days by Republican lawmakers.

"I think they did this to confuse the American people," Fox News host Gretchen Carlson opined on Thursday. "Because they know now that these scandals were brewing and getting bigger. So they released the emails."

"I think they on purpose released emails that take the White House out of the equation, that put the blame on the State Department and the CIA. And then they're hoping that the headline is just that," she continued. "Or would the headline be that president took action on the IRS and fired somebody?"

"I think it's a way of putting both of those two stories out there to confuse, not only journalists about what we should talk about the next day because there's so much to talk about. Or newspaper headlines, which one are they going to choose?"
