Fox News employee has embarrassing Twitter meltdown after being accused of sounding like a white supremacist

Fox News assignment reporter Doug McKelway melted down on Twitter at a journalist who revealed that one of his own colleagues at Fox last week accused him of sounding like a white nationalist.

The Daily Beast's Andrew Kirell, who has a side career as a musician, revealed on Monday that McKelway was responding to an article he wrote about him last week by attacking his harmonica playing.

"Andrew, Andrew, Andrew. Really?" he wrote in one tweet. "You're proud of this? Tell you what. I'll give you a free guitar lesson if you report that Joe Biden voted to re-instate Robert E. Lee's citizenship. I'll even throw in a free harmonica lesson. I don't play, but from available evidence, neither do you."

McKelway then accused Kirell of being a "sheer mediocrity" as a musician and said he was "endemic to the 'everybody gets a trophy generation.'"

"This dude just plain sucks," the Fox News reporter added.

Kirell last week obtained leaked emails showing that McKelway tried to defend President Donald Trump's declaration that there were "very fine people" who attended a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.

Fox News Radio White House correspondent Jon Decker jumped into the conversation and told McKelway that he was offended by his attempt to defend the president's remarks.

“Based upon the slew of emails that I’ve received today, both of you should send an apology to your Fox News colleagues — many of whom are hurt and infuriated by your respective posts,” Decker said. “Your posts read like something you’d read on a White Supremacist chat room.”
