Fox News floats trial balloon that Mitt Romney might make third run for president

With no clear GOP frontrunner for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, FoxNews.com  recently floated the possibility that Mitt Romney, who lost in 2012, might be thinking about running again.

Citing a recent reunion in Park City, Utah, with his 2012 campaign advisers and his rising favorability numbers, now at 47 percent, in the polls, Fox noted that Romney has ramped up his public profile lately with 12 television appearances in the past six months.

Romney recently responded "No" to Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer when asked if he would consider running again.

In the Netflix movie "Mitt," Romney said of nominees who lose their White House bids: “They become a loser. It’s over.”

“He very well could [run again,] but it doesn’t seem likely,” said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean, adding. “You’ll likely find that he’ll be most effective using his political and business savvy on the outside, rather than the inside.”

Bonjean speculated that Romney might serve as a Cabinet member should the Republicans win back the White House in 2016.

“He’d be a prime candidate for Treasury secretary,” he said.

2012 Romney advisers Kevin Madden, Eric Fehrnstrom and Stuart Stevens have refused to comment to Fox News.
