Fox panel: Michelle Obama rapping to promote college is 'disturbing' and 'demeaning' to the White House

A panel of Fox Business pundits excoriated First Lady Michelle Obama for a rap music video encouraging kids to go to college.

The music video "Go To College" was shot at the White House and features Saturday Night Live's Jay Pharoah. In the video, Michelle Obama raps that kids can "make their dream true."

During a Fox Business panel on Friday, host Ashley Webster said that he found the video "embarrassing."

Conservative radio host Tammy Bruce argued that kids should not be encouraged to take on more debt.

"Kids are getting swamped with debt, nobody has a job coming out of college, and yet, this is a push for you to go to college," she remarked. "I'm not quite sure what they hope is going to happen here."

"It's disturbing," Bruce said. "We're telling kids -- and we should -- maybe vocational school is better. Maybe, some people, you don't need college. Clearly, people who are graduating from college are probably thinking they didn't need college."

Bruce added a warning that kids would "go college and you're not going to have any free speech."

Fox's Elizabeth MacDonald admitted that the video was clever and funny, but she suggested that "there is an issue with African-Americans getting good jobs after school."

"Some say it's like renting out the Lincoln Bedroom," Webster complained. "It's a bit demeaning."

"This is ostensibly about college," Bruce concluded. "But it's more, I think, about reaching out to a political constituency."
