Fox pundit: Muslim immigrants are really part of 'a different form of the jihad'

In the latest depth for commentary on immigration and terrorism, conservative talker Monica Crowley stated on the Fox Business Network that Muslims entering a country are themselves part of a conspiracy to take it over — and as a unique point of their religion, no less.

"We're all understandably very focused on the violent jihad — that threat is urgent, and it's immediate, and it's life and death. But there has been a grand project going on throughout the Western world — certainly through Western Europe now for decades," Crowley warned. "Somebody named Bat Ye'or wrote a seminal book back in 1985 called Eurabia, about the project where, with the perfect acquiescence of European leaders who wanted the cheap labor, and they wanted the energy supplies coming out of the Middle East and North Africa, opened their borders and their doors to waves of Muslim migrants."

The book Eurabia by the Egyptian-born British writer Bat Ye'or (a pen name for Gisele Littman, born Gisele Orebi) presents a conspiracy theory that has been compared to classical anti-Semitism in its description of Muslim immigrants and every aspect of their communities as inherently dangerous and part of a subversive coup against society itself.

"Yeah, but that's a different conspiracy. That's a different plot," Fox Business host Stuart Varney objected. "There's a difference between plotting to bring people in as good, solid, cheap labor to run your factories, and a plot to bring in people to take over your country for Islam."

"I'm not saying it's a plot," Crowley said. "What I'm saying is that the effect has been — there is a part of jihad called hijra, which is the spread of Islam in conquest through migration, not through the sword. So this is a different form of the jihad. And while Mrs. Clinton and the president, even the Republican candidates, have been very specific about talking about how to counter ISIS and violent jihad, nobody is talking about the broader civilizational threat."

"That's a fair point," Varney responded.

The actual meaning of the proper noun Hijra, or migration, refers to the specific event in Muslim history when Muhammed and his followers fled the city of Mecca, where he had been targeted for assassination, and journeyed to the city of Yathrib (since renamed to Medina, "the city," short for "The City of the Prophet") where he was being welcomed. That event, marking the establishment of the first stable Muslim community, is marked as the beginning of the Muslim calendar.
