George Conway: The case against Trump as easy to prove as a 'nickel-and-dime drug bust'

Attorney George Conway this week used some colorful metaphors while discussing special counsel Jack Smith's indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Appearing on Bloomberg's "Crash Course" podcast with Trump biographer Tim O'Brien, Conway praised Smith for writing a thorough document that made the charges against the former president easy to understand even for people who don't have law degrees.

"I have never seen a speaking indictment, a speaking complaint... as powerful as this speaking document," he said. "It's linear, it's chronological, it tells a story, the story is easy to understand. I mean, in a lot of ways this is no more complicated than a nickel-and-dime drug bust in a street corner in upper Manhattan."

Conway then marveled at the way that Smith and his team gathered evidence from so many sources close to Trump, including the former president's own attorneys, that add up to a damning picture of criminal intent.

"There's evidence on every page that suffices to put this guy in jail," he said. "Like, almost every paragraph!... And the reason they were able to do that with such power and simplicity was because you don't have to draw any inferences. This stuff, it's on tape! His own lawyer recording a history of Trump asking the lawyer to lie to the government... They've got time-stamped video of Trump's aide moving this sh*t around! And they've got that recording of Trump waving that piece of paper around in Bedminster!"
