George H W Bush is furious about this GA Democrat’s campaign ad

Former President George H. W. Bush is not pleased to have been featured in an ad by Georgia Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Michelle Nunn.

Recently, Republican candidate David Perdue featured ads showing Nunn with President Barack Obama in an effort to slow down Nunn's campaign momentum -- the two candidates are in a statistical dead heat -- by associating her with Obama, whose poll numbers nationally have slipped.

Nunn responded by running a campaign ad of her own, saying of the photo, "It was taken at an event honoring President Bush, who I worked for as CEO of his Points of Light Foundation.”

The elder Pres. Bush's representatives are frantic to disavow the ad, not wanting to confer legitimacy on a campaign to potentially elect Georgia's first Democratic Senator in a decade.

A Bush spokesperson released a statement that said, in part, "Michelle and her team have been clearly, repeatedly and consistently told that President Bush did not want them to use his photo as part of this campaign. Apparently, the Nunn team feels they can repeatedly disregard the former president’s wishes, which is very disappointing because it’s so disrespectful."

Nunn's campaign released a statement of its own saying that the aspiring senator has nothing but respect for the former president, but standing by the ad as an honest representation of the Democrat's bipartisan credentials.

"Throughout my career, I've been able to work with Republicans and Democrats, and that's the same approach I'll bring to the U.S. Senate," Nunn said in the ad.
